Welcome aboard!
Set sail to your badge
We’re glad you’ve received our sample pack!
Feel free to leave it open next to your screen, as this page is designed to be used alongside the pack!
Here, you won’t just discover the different badge techniques and finishes available. You can also feel, compare and test them straight away. Feel the texture of the embroidery, see just how finely woven the details can be, discover what sublimation does to colour and detail, and notice how different PVC feels.
Don’t have a sample pack yet? If not, we’d definitely recommend ordering one. That way, you can follow this guide not just with your eyes, but with your hands as well.
What’s in your sample pack?
In your sample pack, you won’t find just any old badges, but rather a little journey of discovery through the world of iBadge!
Each of the four ‘lighthouses’ showcases a different technique.
The three extra badges demonstrate how finishing touches, fastenings and special effects can give your badge a completely different function.
Feel free to take a look at them one by one.
Feel the difference in the materials, examine the details and start thinking: where would you put your badge?
4 lighthouses = 4 techniques
3 extra badges = extra finishes & special effects
Four techniques, each with its own course
Each badge technique has its own look, feel and use.
Swipe through the four lighthouses and discover which style best suits your design.
Choose what suits your destination
A badge isn’t truly finished until you know where it’s going to be worn.
On a jacket? A uniform? A rucksack? A cap? A metal surface? Or a gadget in its own?
That’s why it’s not just the front that matters, but the back as well.
Take the badges out of your pack and give them a quick flip. See how each finish opens up slightly different possibilities.
Special effects
Sometimes it’s nice to have just that little bit extra.
Think of glow-in-the-dark effects, gold or silver thread, reflective details or other eye-catching finishes. Perfect when you want your badge not only to look good, but also to offer a surprise.

How big will your badge be?
The size of your badge determines how much detail is possible.
A smaller size works well for simple shapes, logos or short text.
Would you like an illustration, fine lines, small letters or a combination of several elements? In that case, a larger size is often a better choice.
If you like, place a badge from the pack on your coat, bag or desk and see how the size feels. Sometimes even half a centimetre makes a big difference to legibility!
Not sure about the ideal size? We’d be happy to advise you based on your design and intended use.
What technical requirements must your design meet?
A badge is not just an ordinary print.
Thread, fabric, embossing, rubber and the finish all play a part in determining what is technically feasible.
That is why a strong badge design usually works best with clear shapes, sufficient contrast and not too many small details. Thick lines stand out better than fine lines, and block letters are often more legible.
For embroidered badges, it’s best to use letters at least 4 to 5 mm high. For woven and sublimated badges, text can be rendered in finer detail. Lines in embroidery should ideally be at least 1 mm thick.
Colour choice is also a factor. Embroidered, woven and PVC badges normally contain a maximum of 8 colours. In exceptional cases, we can go up to 10 colours. Does your design feature many more colours, colour gradients or complex details? In that case, we often turn to sublimation.
What can we do for you?
We always review your design with production in mind.
Where necessary, we contribute ideas on:
- text size
- readability
- contrast
- choice of colour
- simplification of details
- the ideal format
- the right technique and finish
Any major changes to the content are, of course, always made in consultation.
How do you submit your design?
You don’t need to start with a file that’s perfectly ready for production.
A good idea, sketch or example is often enough to get things moving.
I have a finished design
Please provide us with a vector file such as AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, if possible. This will enable us to produce your design as faithfully as possible.
I only have an image
A clear, high-resolution PNG or JPG is often a good place to start.
I’ve just got an idea
That’s perfectly fine as well.
A sketch, mood board, example photo or brief description will help us to explore the possibilities together.
Technical data sheets
Would you like to prepare your design as thoroughly as possible yourself?
Then be sure to take a look at our technical data sheets setting out the requirements for each badge type:
